                               4/23/12
Dear Parents,
	Hi, I hope everyone had a great weekend.  Today we had a WellStar 
speaker teach us about water safety.  Please ask your child what they learned 
during our Whale Tales presentation.
 	This week in reading we will focus on thinking critically about 
texts, author’s purpose, and responding to texts.  We will continue to focus 
on persuasive texts.  Our phonics skills for this week include words with ou 
and ow.  Please make sure to continue helping your child study their words 
throughout the week.  In writing, we will continue to write persuasive 
paragraphs.  Thank you for responding to your child’s letter.  If you have 
not done that, please do write back to them as they enjoy reading your 
response.  We will continue to review using quotation marks in our writing.  
We will begin learning about division strategies in math this week.  We will 
review multiplication strategies, making change, place value to the 
thousands, and telling time.  In science, we will continue learning about 
life cycles.  Please ask your child about the life cycles we have been 
observing in our class.  Ask them what stage the life cycles are in and what 
stage will come next! We will continue to learn about Jimmy Carter in social 
studies.
