All math textbooks are to remain at home. Please make sure that all books
are covered.
- Official Math notebok CHK. on Monday, August 17th. The following items
must be in the Math section:
1) Tabs labeled & in correct order:
Warm-Ups, Notes, Graded Papers, Homework, & Vocab/Misc..
2) Notebook paper in appropriate sections
3) Graph Paper in vocab/misc. section.
4) Index cards inside plastic bag or pencil pouch.
We (6th grade teachers) do realize that the whole concept of Middle School is
new to our 6th graders and we have been lenient this week in helping the
students adjust. However, students will start receiving tardies next week
(beginning Monday, 8/18/08) if they report to class late. Please read the
agenda in reference to tardies and classroom infractions and corresponding
consequences.
- Students will have a classroom procedures quiz on Thursday, August 13th.
CURRENT UNIT 1: Whole #'s and Problem Solving (3wks)
- Approximately 4 days reviewing whole #"s (multiplication/division
only..TEST ON MONDAY AUGUST 17th).
- Approximately 10 days on using problem solving strategies such as:
• brainstorming
• make a list
• make a table
• work backwards
• draw a picture
• act it out
• guess and check
• solve a simpler problem
• look for a pattern
• write an equation using a variable
• substitution
