CHUNK YOUR CHANGE is a fund raiser to help offset some costs of setting up the recycling program. On Thursday, November 12 and Friday, November 13 during car line (after-school), students will be collecting any spare change you would like to donate to the program. Students not in carline can bring in spare change during these days to their classroom.
Students will also collect any cell phones that are ready to be recycled with your spare change.
NEWS FLASH
Go Green at Cornerstone! We need parent volunteers to take recycling off campus to a local recycling facility on Fridays, starting November 13. Interested parents are to contact Denise Carleton at dlcarleton@bellsouth.net or 770-490-1083. For more information about Cornerstone’s new recycling programs, visit the new “Go Green” section of our website.

We will ALSO be accepting old cell phones and accessories during the change drive. Working phones should be fully charged for 9-1-1 use by Family Haven (www.family-haven.org). Broken phones also accepted.
Did you know? Recycling just one aluminum can saves enough energy to power a laptop or TV for 3 hours.
GO GREEN
Cornerstone Schools is GOING GREEN!
Cornerstone is mindful that the actions we take or dismiss today will ultimately define the future of our world and society. To coordinate and oversee recycling programs for students and staff, Cornerstone has created a Cornerstone Environmental Education Committee (CEEC). Through recycling programs, Cornerstone is committed to educating and encouraging students and staff to care for the environment, and take environmental leadership roles on our campus and in the community.

Hot Lunch Options
Pick & Choose
Families wishing to select specific days for their child to eat lunch may do so by the last Friday of the month prior to the next month’s menu selections. Please email a list of what days your child will eat lunch and forward a check to the office for the total number of lunches for the month.
Each lunch will be $4.00 and lunches must be selected and paid for by the last Friday of the month prior to the next month’s menu selections.
For example, if your child would like to eat hot lunch 5 days out of the month for September:
1. Email a list of the dates that they will be eating hot lunch in September by August 28th. Please put ‘Lunches’ in the subject line. francel@cornerstonesch.com or elainefrancel@bellsouth.net
2. Send a check to the main office for the cost of September lunches by August 28th.
Hopefully, this is a convenient option for families and it allows Cornerstone to accurately order food for the month.
Hello parents,
I have had several emails asking about children being fever free for 24 hours and then sending them back to school. Please understand that I realize the 7 day flu protocol (recommended by the CDC), to stop the spread, is a royal pain! However, I would like to be proactive in limiting the momentum of the flu at Cornerstone.
I am especially concerned about very young siblings of our students, pregnant moms at Cornerstone and Cornerstone teachers (we need them healthy to keep the classes going). So if your child has had the flu this week or is experiencing the onset of symptoms please keep them out of school for 7 days. We will do everything possible to help them get caught up with their school work.
The difference between a cold and flu:
Flu symptoms are felt all over the body in the form of high fever, body or muscle aches, headache, tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, runny nose.
Cold symptoms are usually felt from the neck up…runny or stuffy nose.
