December 4, 2009
December 8 is Early Release Day.
I have signed our class up to go to the “Secret Santa Shop” on Tuesday next
week. The children brought home a letter with an envelope attached for
money. Please make sure any money sent to school for this project is in that
envelope with the information filled in.
There is another note about our canned/non-perishable food drive. Please
send a donation for the Salvation Army. We may begin collecting tomorrow,
and we will go through Dec. 17.
Don’t forget PTA is Dec. 15. I’m sure Mrs. Geeslin will send home another
reminder, but mark it on your calendars if you haven’t already.
Our field trip to Vulcan Materials rock quarry has been rescheduled for Dec.
17. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather - not only that day, but for
2 or 3 days prior as well.
December 17 is Chick-Fil-A night. Let’s have a good turnout. Even though we
don’t have as many students as 4th and 5th grades, if everyone comes out, we
can beat them!!! Grab friends, neighbors, and strangers off the street and
bring them in too!! Just kidding about the strangers.
December 18 will be our Polar Express fundraiser for Relay for Life. The
children may donate $1.00 to wear pajamas to school. Hot chocolate will be
offered for sale. All children will get to watch the movie, but only those
who donate may wear pajamas that day.
Our class is also trying to help the Open Door Community House this
Christmas. I know you are asked to do a lot, but this is such a worthwhile
charity. This organization helps the very neediest of our community, and
there are many children who depend on the generosity of others for their
Christmas. Please open your hearts (yes, and your wallets) to make Christmas
happen for these children. I sent home a note about this yesterday.
You will receive information soon about our class Christmas party plans.
