Wow! It's hard to believe its November already!!! It will be a quick month with our week long Thanksgiving break. Before we know it, it will be Christmas! Each child is making so much progress. Experiencing so much growth in each childs learning and the enthusiasum they come to school with every day makes my job so rewarding and joyous! Thank you for sharing your children with me!
There are several items that I want to bring to your attention...
1. We will be learning about Thanksgiving, pilgrims and Indians. As part of our Indian study, we will be making indian T shirts. Please send in a plain white t shirt. no later than Friday, November 13th.
2. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we will be making a friendship fruit salad to share with you. Each child has been asked to bring in a fruit to contribute to our salad. We will all work together to prepare the salad to share. Hope you can make it at 2:15 on Thursday, November 19th.
3.All of our students are doing a great job learning their "popcorn" words. I have created a display on the bathroom door where students can move their name from various popcorn boxes labled, 25,50,75,100,150,175,200,230+. Several students will be earning a reward for reading 75 words! We have worked on approximately 50 words. They are all not in the same order as the list I sent home.
Please keep working on these words at home.
4. The children have been working hard to learn word families. We have concentrated on the following word families so far: at, an, all, ing, ay. The next two will be the og and et families. Please review these word families at home. I will be giving an informal assessment about two times a week.
5. Please enjoy working on the turkey feather that was sent home on Wednesday. These are due back on Monday, November 9th.
6. All students can benefit from practice in counting at home. Any objects will do. Counting objects to 30 it the goal. Counting pennies is a good idea. Making stacks of 5 or ten pennies and making fair trades for nickels and dimes is a great learning activity!
7. Please continue to keep track of books read at home. More details about our Eagle Ridge reading club to follow soon.
