Math 6/7
I have been told that students will be placed in ACCELERATED Math (called
Math 6/7) with the following criteria:

1. 5th grade ITBS on Math TOTAL (not the subscores) of 95 or above (look at
NATIONAL Percentile score)
            AND (not OR)
2. 5th grade CRCT on Math Total of 850 or above

Please keep in mind that the math program is NOT part of the AC program
because math is accelerated (kids cover 1 1/2 years of math material in one
school year). AC classes, on the other hand, are advanced/enriched. We stay
at the same pace as the on-level classes, but go into more depth.

Students that did not meet the above criteria (or are new to Cobb County
Schools) will be given a test the first week or two of school.

If you have any questions about math, please contact the math 6/7 teacher at:
    rita.mcginley@cobbk12.org

From Ms. Brown (LA Coordinator at ECMS) On-level students need to read at
least two books on the reading list (found at:
http://www.cobbk12.org/~eastcobb/pdfs/Summer%20Reading%
20List6thWord2008ALL.pdf , and AC LA students need to read at least 3
books. Students should be aware of book characters and elements of plot as
they read their novels (maybe even take some notes).
(the form on the ECMS website is completely optional—it’s NOT for a grade.)
