--------------------------------------
What is a healthy snack?
Fruit, raw vegetable pieces with/without dip, cheese, crackers, popcorn,
etc. Some fruit snacks are all-natural and appropriate.
--------------------------------------
When do you go outside?
We go out the entire year. We do not go out in rain...(though fun warm rain
shower days would be fun, fun, fun!)...this week we went out and played in
the snow...bundled well of course! Going outside...getting a little chilled
is not what makes a child ill...it does if your child already has a little
bug going on inside his/her body. Doctors will tell you that it is almost
worse to be too hot (temperature in room too high) than to be too cold.
--------------------------------------
What about discipline?
We operate on a "do the right thing because it's the right thing to do"
and "do the right thing even when no one is looking". We practice a do unto
others type environment. Loss of privilege/time out is an effective tool in
the Kindergarten classroom.
--------------------------------------
How often do you visit the media center?
As a class, about once a month. After the children start checking out books..hopefully small groups
can visit once a week. Later, media passes may allow children to visit during literacy/exploratory center
times.
--------------------------------------
How often do kindergarten students get report cards?
Every 9 weeks.
