| Science Activity:
Create a graphic organizer or flip book with the vocabulary on simple machines. The vocabulary
words are listed in your child's planner. They must list the word,write the definition,and draw a
simple picture to represent the simple machine. This was assigned on Thursday,January 31st and
was put in their planner. It is due Tuesday,February 5th.

Spelling Activities for
Mrs. Jubelt's 4th Grade Class ABC
Are you tired of doing the same activities for Spelling? Check out the list
below. You may pick and choose any three of the activities to complete by
Friday. Every activity MUST be turned in by Friday's Spelling test.
(1) Type your list of words on the computer. Change each vowel to a
different color. Print your list.
(2) Make an acrostic with your words. Write each word up and down on your
paper, one letter to a line. Find words or phrases that begin with each
letter and follow a theme that we are studying. For example:
Natives
Islands
Exploring
Columbus
Exciting voyage
(3) Hold two different colored markers, crayons, or pens in your hand. Copy
the words in your best handwriting.
(4) Write a list of your words in reverse ABC order.
(5) Make a word search puzzle on graph paper. Be sure to include all of your
words. Give it to a friend to solve.
(6) Use all your words to write a letter to Superman or another super hero.
(7) Design a pretty bookmark on thick paper. Write your list neatly on the
bookmark.
(8) Make a concentration game with flash cards (2 for each word) to help you
study.
(9) Design a Spelling game to play with your friends. It can be a board
game, a card game, a guessing game, or some other idea.
(10) Make a crossword puzzle using your Spelling words. Be sure to include
clues. You may use a dictionary to look up the definitions of the words.
(11) Pair up with a friend. Give each other a practice test. Be sure to
grade it!
(12) Write the alphabet on a piece of paper. Under A, write $1.00. Under B,
write $2.00, and so on up to $26 for Z. Figure up the dollar amount of each
of your Spelling words.
(13) Cut letters out of magazines and newspapers and glue on paper to spell
your words.
(14) Make Spelling Pyramids. Write the first letter. On the next line, write
the first and second letters. On the third line, write the first, second,
and third letters, and so on. Your words will look similar to this:

(15) Look at your words. Arrange the letters of each word in alphabetical
order. This can be tricky!
(16) Write your letters in glue on heavy paper. Sprinkle Jello over the
words. Your Spelling has never smelled so good!
(17) Use alphabet cereal or pasta letters to glue your words on heavy paper.
(18) Write a poem using your words.
(19) Classify the words according to parts of speech. Record your
classification in a table.
(20) Make up a rap or song using all of your Spelling words! Perform it for
the class!
(21) Make up a code. Write your words in your code. Give it to a friend to
solve.
(22) Look up each spelling word in the dictionary. Write the guide words
found on the page with the spelling word. For example: guide word/spelling
word/guide word.
(23) Write each spelling word along with a rhyming word next to it.
(24) Use all of the words in sentences. Make as few complete sentences as
possible.
