Your child should write homework assignments (and specials schedule) in his/her planner
each day. It is your child's responsibility to go over these assignments with you AND to have the
planner signed each night.
Every day:
* Read for at least 15-20 minutes.
* Practice basic math facts- addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Please do not focus on multiplication/division until addition/subtraction have been mastered.
* Check and have planner signed (even on Fridays).
* Check Take-Home Folder
* Do at least one chore around your house.
Typically:
- Math review/practice of skills learned in class almost every night
- Language Arts practice/review of skills 2-3 times per week (sometimes a packet which will have a
due date)
- Social Studies/Science/Health- given as needed
- Thursday- Behavior Folder. This must be signed and returned the next day. Communication from
the school will go home on Thursdays as well (PTA/Foundation, Administration, Field Trips, etc.)
- Friday- Letters Home. Your child will write a letter to you about each week's events in school (using
proper friendly letter format). Parents are to give a written response IN CURSIVE each weekend. This
will be due each Monday. Your child will begin to write to you in cursive as he/she is ready (this could
be many weeks or by the second half of the school year).
* This is an excellent keepsake to chronicle your child's third grade experience. It is also a wonderful
tool to keep parents "in the loop" as to what is happening in school.
Spelling Notebooks:
- Follow directions on your "Owl Sheet" (individualized spelling list and homework assignments).
** Check your child's planner for due date (also on the "Owl Sheet").
Current Events Notebooks:
- Follow the directions on my website and in the notebook.
** Check your child's planner for due date.
