| Homework packets will come home beginning the week of August 28, 2006.
Please have your child complete his/her packet and return it to school on
Friday of each week. This is in addition to reading daily.
The entire first grade team asks that you read either with, to, or listen to
your child read daily for 15 to 20 minutes. The more you read the better
reader you will more likely become. Until we start our Overnight Express
books, please have your child read or listen to a book of choice. We will
begin sending home books daily right before the Labor Day holiday.
First graders should spend no more than 15 minutes each evening on written
homework. If your child is consistently spending more time than this, or if
a particular assignment takes considerably longer, please let me know. If
your child is tired and unable to continue, please do not force it; he/she
can finish the following day. While our goal is to instill responsibility
and increase attention span, we all have days when we’re not at our best!
