About The Teacher

My name is Cindy Meynard. I grew up in Tucker, Georgia. I have lived in
Georgia my whole life. I decided to become a teacher after teaching swim
lessons for 7 years and coaching a swim team. I decided that working with
children was my "thing".

This is my 5th year at East Side. I have taught a total of 12 years. I took
5 years off to be a stay at home mom. I have experience in many different
grade levels. I have taught Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 4th. I taught in
Dekalb County, Camden County, and Cobb County.

I am a graduate of The University of Georgia. ( GO DAWGS!) I was lucky
enough to be selected to do my student teaching in Glasgow, Scotland. What a
great experience to live in another country and truly become part of their
culture. I never did learn how to drive on the "wrong" side of the rode
while I was there.

I am married to a wonderful man named Craig. We have three beautiful
children. Zach is 13 and attends Dickerson Middle School. Alexandrea is 10,
and is a 4th grader at East Side. Kendyll is 8, and will be in 2nd grade at
East Side.

When I have spare time I enjoy going on walks, my book club, playing Bunko,
taking pictures, and making crafts.

I love teaching at East Side!

My name is Kelly Martin. I grew up here in Cobb, went to Sope Creek, Dickerson, and then Walton. I
graduated in 2003 from Valdosta State University with a Masters Degree in Interrelated Special
Education and Early Childhood Education. I have just completed my four year as a Special Needs
Preschool teacher and am very excited about this year in first grade.

I am newly engaged and will be getting married June 27, 2008 in Jamaica.

Cindy and I are excited about working together this year!

Class Mission

My mission for my class is for each student to have fun while learning.
The students will learn at his or her own pace. My teaching style is "hands-
on". I feel that children learn better when they can touch, see, and hear
it. It makes learning easier and fun. I like for the students to work in
groups where they will learn how to interact with others. This is an
important life skill. My job as your child's teacher is to provide them with
the individual support that they need to be successful as a student.
