My name is Jayme Lyn Mills and I grew up here in Marietta, Georgia with
both my parents. I attended Tritt Elementary, Dickerson Middle School, and Walton High School. I
graduated from Walton in 2001 and went on to Clemson University (GO TIGERS!) where I earned my
degree in Elemenatry Education. This is my fourth year teaching, and I can't imagine myself doing
anything else. I like to spend my free time reading, cooking, and visiting with family and friends.
I have two goals for our third graders this year. The first is that they
become people who love to read. I will be challenging you, as parents, to
assist in this development by modeling reading for your child at home, as
well as setting aside time for him/her to read for pleasure. I plan to
introduce our class to motivating authors and books that will help
them “catch the reading bug”, but nothing will encourage them as much as
seeing Mom and Dad value reading in their own lives.
My second goal for this year is to help the children become more mature
and responsible students. I will be encouraging them to become more
independent and responsible in the organization and completion of their class
work and homework. We will be having students write down their homework
assignments in planners (agendas) provided to them. They will record their
assignments daily as well as due dates for long-term assignments. Please
support your child in the form of encouragement, praise, and checking over
their work. If you see any particular difficulty, please send me a note and I
will try to review that concept at school. Thank you in advance for your
support, I am looking forward to a great year !
