Dear Parents,
We celebrated our last class studying a different kind of bubble! We had so much fun using
bubble gum in our experiments today! We chewed 4 types of bubble gum and recorded the bubble
size and taste of each. Then we decided which one tastes the best(Orbit) and which blew the
biggest bubbles (Bazooka). We did a brainteaser with gumballs too. Ask your child about this.
For creativity, we listed all the different things we could do with gum besides chew it and blow
bubbles. We also read and discussed a book called Where Does It Come From:Bubble Gum. Very
interesting! We finished with a final reflection, science skills review, and a unit evaluation
which was overwhelmingly positive-especially after today's activites! :)
We had 3 Above & Beyond presentations today. Luke shared about the Eiffel tower and
presented interesting facts about octopi. Did you know they have 3 hearts??? Laszlo presented
his well researched hydropower Above and Beyond as well! Great job, boys!
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with each one of your students. Next week I will be in and
out of the second grade classes since there are so many special activites! Have a great summer
and I hope that I will have the pleasure and privilege of working with you and your children
again in the fall! Thanks so much for your support this year! Sincerely, Renee Mitchell
