CALLING ALL PARENTS AND RELATIVES!!! It is the last week of school and there is a lot going on. Today was our Awards Ceremony and I can
honestly say that I am VERY proud of all my students for every single one of their accomplishments no matter how big or small they may seem.
In my eyes, they are all SUPERSTARS!!!
I also wanted to let everyone know that I have put together a 3rd grade slide show for the whole grade to enjoy and remember all the fun we
have had this year. We are going to be watching the slide show at 1:00pm in the gym tomorrow (Thursday) and I would love for anyone who
can make it on such short notice to come and check it out!
If you can't make the slide show, please come to our end of the year party at 1:00pm, Friday afternoon.
Don't Forget, if you want fish, you only have 3 more days to come in after school and pick up your new pets!

I can't believe that the CRCT's are finally over and we only have 3 more weeks of school!!! Though it is the end of the year, you may notice that
your child’s' work load is increasing! You are not mistaken! There is a lot for us to do this last 3 weeks and not a minute to spare. We are also
trying to prepare the children for the big change they will experience next year. Here is what will be going on the next few weeks;
~We have began our study on Biographies. Your child has been assigned a historical figure to research, write a Bio-poem about, and decorate a
cardboard cutout to look like his/her famous person. The biographies have been handed out and the cutouts will be sent home tomorrow.
We are also in the process of reading Helen Keller. A chapter is assigned a night for reading, and then the following day a quiz is given over the
chapter. We will be discussing the book and doing some activities that go along with it. The children seem to be really enjoying this unit, and
so am I!
~East Side's annual Vocabulary Fair is this Wednesday, May 7, from 8:15-9:15. Your child has chosen a word that he/she has learned this year
to dress up as for the parade. I can't wait to see all the cool costumes!
~In science we are currently learning about heat and will then be moving on to learn about how we can help our environment through the study
of conservation and recycling.
~In Social Studies we are learning all about our economy and highly anticipating the Economics Fair this Friday, May 9th.
~In math we continue expanding our learning about multiplication by multiplying 2-digit by one-digit, and three-digit by one-digit. We will
also be getting into long division dividing two-digit by one-digit, and three-digit by one-digit.
~ A special Congratulations to our class for selling the most raffle tickets in the 3rd grade! We have won a Chocolate Fountain Party that we are
going to enjoy this Thursday! Way to go Super Stars!

Welcome back! I hope everyone had an excellent Spring Break! Back to business though, as we all know CRCT is approaching rapidly! I have
put
a new link on my home page for CRCT practice. Also, around conference time, a flyer was sent home with your child's individual log in and
password for a CRCT practice site. If you do not have this anymore, please send me an e-mail and I will get that to you. Since your child can
access practice through my web site, he/she should be practicing every night!
Also, we are learning 2-digit multiplication in math right now. I have heard several students express some concern about the difficulty of this
content. I will be at school tomorrow morning (Friday, April 18) at 7:00am if any student would like to come early to receive some small group
math attention. Please send me an e-mail if your child is interested in attending so I know how many to prepare for. Also, make sure your
child is still practicing his/her basic multiplication facts EVERY NIGHT! It will make everything else that much easier if they have those basic
facts
down.

I am sure many of you at home have heard something about book reports and are wondering what and where they are. At the beginning of this
week I announced that we are now starting the book reports. I have a folder in the classroom that holds the forms where the students can
come pick one up when they need it. I am requiring one book report a month for each student to complete. The report is a little lengthy, but
they kids do have all month long to complete it. I will give them reminders about making sure they turn one in each month and marking it on
the planner. These book reports will count as reading and writing grades for this last nine weeks. If you or your child have any questions about
the book reports, please let me know.
Also, the Technology Fair is tonight!!! We will be displaying and presenting all the fabulous things our classes make using technology! I hope
to
see everyone there!
Lastly, Thursday, March 27, is the Science Fair! Forms and information about the fair are being sent home today and I am encouraging all my
students to get involved. If your child does choose to participate in the science fair, I will count it as an extra credit grade in science! I can't
wait to see all the awesome projects!
Things to look out for...
-Report cards are being sent home today!
-101 Dalmatians is being preformed by East Sides awesome 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders including our very own Grace Whaley and Sophia Korn!
You can look forward to seeing our shining stars March 29 and 30 at Dickerson Middle School!
-East Sides Art Show is coming up on April 21! Every child will have his/her work displayed at this event! Come check out our talented
children!

Parents,
Today you received an update about our field trip funds. I apologize for the tardiness of the form, as I did not realize the due date. We are still
collecting money, so please have these forms in to me as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your cooperation and understanding. I
know
the children and myself are looking forward to the next High Touch High Tech with great anticipation!
**ALSO, I have a free ticket to East Side's Gala/Emerald Ball for this Saturday if anyone is interested. Please let me know, and I will send the
ticket home to the first lucky responder!!! Good Luck and have fun!

Thank you all for sending in more tissues! Our supply was down to 2 boxes! With the cold and flu season among us, we are going through
them like crazy! Because of all the sickness, please remind your child to wash their hands often, especially after blowing their nose! I hope
everyone is staying happy and healthy!

Dear Parents and Students,
Thank you all soooo much for an amazing Teacher Appreciation Week!!! All my flowers really did brighten up my day and our room. Lunch
was
amazing, and my gifts were awesome! Those are things I will keep for years to come and will always remember my very first class by! You are
all
so special to me and have truly made my first year teaching a wonderful experience! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for ALL you do.
What I do wouldn't be possible without you!
