Class News

5/23

Dear Parents,
What an emotional end to a wonderful year with your children. Mrs. Durham and I want to express our appreciation for the class gift. You really
didn’t have to do that as your children were our gift all year long! This had to be one of the best classes ever assembled. The kindness and
support they exhibited all year long towards each other was truly extraordinary. When one student was down, several students were always
there to rally around them (and always different ones). When one student succeeded, there was applause and cheers, not bitterness. Each of
your children brought such different gifts to our classroom and we will miss them greatly! We hope you have a wonderful summer and if you
didn’t get your copy of the end-of year DVD, please send me an e-mail and we can figure out how to get it to you.

NEWSFLASH!!!!!!
Because of the weather forecast, our 4th grade picnic will be on Wednesday - NOT Tuesday!

Wow! We had a great time at the movie last Friday! If you couldn’t attend, we missed you, but don’t worry, the others are anxious to share what
they saw with you. It was very interesting to see the similarities and differences between the movie and the book and to see how the movie
interpreted some of our favorite characters.

Here we are at our last week together and I can only say once again to all the parents out there how grateful we are for the work you’ve done
raising such beautiful and loving children. It has been a year we will cherish in our memories as one of the best classes ever!

I sent a notice home detailing some of the things going on this week, but in case you missed it, I’ve attached it below. Awards for 4th grade are
scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, and report cards will be mailed out on the 30th of May to those who sent pre-addressed envelopes.
Otherwise, you may pick up your child’s report card after that date. Grades will be posted on-line by Wednesday this week and may only
change for the final report card in rare circumstances where there is some unfinished work involved.

For those with medications in the clinic, the nurse sent home a letter requesting instructions for disposing or returning the medications. If you
didn’t see the letter, please contact the nurse.

Last Week of School Activities

Dear Parents,

Believe it or not, next week is the last week of school! We will be squeezing in the last academic requirements, reflecting on our year, and
having some fun too.

Monday-	Moving On Day
Today students will reflect over the last year. They will write and illustrate favorite fourth grade memories. They will write letters to the
upcoming fourth grade students telling them what to expect in fourth grade.

Tuesday- Kickball day
Final kickball against Mrs. Agnew’s class.

Wednesday-	Cleaning day, 4th grade picnic
Weather permitting, the fourth grade will enjoy an end of the year picnic during their lunch period on the soccer field. Sub sandwiches, chips,
and cookies will be provided, but students need to bring a drink. Of course, they can buy a school lunch or bring their own lunch if they prefer.
We will extend recess a short time in order that students may sign memory books.
Desks will be cleaned out in the morning and all papers and school materials taken home.

Thursday-	Pajama and Game Day and final bookbuddies
Please allow your child to bring in their favorite board game. No electronics! We want everyone to socialize and play together. Last day for
bookbags to come to school!

Friday-	Movie Day
Students will enjoy some movies and whole group games.

Have a wonderful and safe summer!! ☺
