Class Update!
Many of you have gotten e-mails about our holiday party already, but in case you haven’t, it will be Thursday afternoon, instead of Wednesday as originally scheduled. Our room moms sound like they have a great time planned for all!
As many of your children may have mentioned, we are still working hard this week. Although we’re enjoying the holiday spirit, our vacation truly does start after we get out on Friday! This week, we have a language assessment on Wednesday, a Math assessment Thursday, and a Science quiz on Friday! A study guide has been placed on the homework page for the science quiz and students have a math practice test to study for the math.
Grades were updated a little while ago and will be updated again by January 5th for final second quarter grades. My understanding is that report cards will be distributed at parent conferences, so I will keep the final second quarter grades up for the first couple of weeks of January and notify you when they change to 3rd quarter.
The following notes were sent home and/or posted in PTA e-news!
Holiday Baskets for Staff Members
Each year East Side Elementary students show their appreciation to our hard working administration and staff by presenting them with holiday fruit baskets. We include non-homeroom teachers, parapros, administrative staff, custodians, bus drivers and lunchroom staff in this holiday tradition. We are asking children in each grade to bring specific items to fill the baskets. Please have your child bring his/her donation to the lunchroom before class on Thursday morning, December 17th.
Kindergarten/Special Ed - 2 apples
1st grade - 2 grapefruit
2nd grade - 2 oranges
3rd grade - 2 pears
4th grade - 2 apples, or any of the above fruit
5th grade - individual gourmet coffee, hot chocolate or tea packets
These baskets are just a small token of our appreciation to those who serve our children. Thank you for your donation during this busy and joyful time of year! Please contact Mary Quinn at zmquinn@aol.com or 770-578-1076 if you would like to join us with assembly/distribution of the baskets on Dec. 17th.
Food Drive in Progress
The East Side Student Council is conducting a food drive during this holiday season. Please help fill the MUST Ministries barrels at school with nonperishable items. Your support will make a big difference to many families in Cobb County.
Snuggle Up With A Good Book Over the Holidays!
It’s time for the Holiday Reading Program! Every student who reads 4 or more books over the holiday break will receive a coupon for a free ice cream cone at Bruster’s. Please use this link to print your Holiday Reading Log and return it to your teacher by January 8th. For each completed reading log, a coupon for free ice cream will be sent home in mid-January.
