Please check your child's I-Parent after Friday this week. Major tests are being graded and should be finished and listed by Friday. Since tests are 55% of their grade, this grade will affect the average on the progress report significantly. I have updated as many progress reports as I could today and those averages include the test grade.
For Spanish 2 students I am making a one time assignment that could help their average. Homework is 20% of my grade, so this will not fix all their problems, but it will be a good review, and it will help some. Looking at the I-Parent for terms 1 and 2, if your student made an 81 or below on any vocabulary quiz (they should be noted with the number of words, etc. on the assignments), he/she can write that list of words (the whole list) five times each as I demonstrate below and turn those in for as many grades by December 4th. I will put these in the homework average. Every word must be spelled correctly. This is a copying assignment and they have several places to verify the spelling of the word, i.e. their notes, their books, my website, or me. They have been told all of the requirements and to write the words as I show below(English then Spanish five times):
book - el libro *Nouns must include el/la/los/las to sleep - dormir (o-ue) *Verbs must include stem changes if
book - el libro to sleep - dormir (o-ue) they have one.
book - el libro to sleep - dormir (o-ue)
book - el libro to sleep - dormir (o-ue)
book - el libro to sleep - dormir (o-ue)
I will not grade any assignments with spelling errors.
Please watch the I-Parent for negative trends in your student's performance in this class. Please pay special attention to "daily quiz" grades. These are mini-tests over the material we are covering or have covered and they indicate your student's knowledge of the current and already learned material. They normally indicate how your child will perform on the major test as well. We take one to five daily quizzes a week, depending on the week, and those grades are averaged on Friday into one grade. Often the same material is repeated on several quizzes to check improvement. We always discuss the answers to the quiz immediately after the quiz to review the material and fix any problems with understanding. Your student should show improvement in those grades throughout the chapter or these grades will indicate to you that he/she is not studying the material sufficiently.
Additionally, please add your name to the distribution list for your student's specific class if you would like to receive reminders about quiz, test, and project dates. This can be done by clicking on the link to NewsFlash Spanish 2, 3, or 4AP on the left side of this site.
Thank you,
