About The Teacher

I have been teaching for quite awhile. My first experiences, when my two
sons were younger, were in private schools. I taught preschool through
first grade. After I finished my degree I began teaching in Clayton
County. I spent seven years in Clayton County, teaching kindergarten
through second grade. This is my eighth year at Ford Elementary and they
have all been in second grade. This year I have the pleasure of co-teaching
with one of my dear friends, Mrs. Debra Hebert. I consider myself very
fortunate to be with the second grade team. We all bring various back-
grounds to the table: reading specialist, special education, gifted endorse-
ments, and many other specialties. I love this grade and I love my school!
Our students are the best!
Regarding my family, my daughter-in-law, Fran McMath is a first grade
teacher at Ford. Also, her daughter, Lindsey McMath is a third grade student
in Mrs. Birkbeck's class this year. My husband and I have three other
grandchildren that attend school. Rachel (Fran's oldest daughter) is in the
seventh grade at Lost Mountain. We have two grandsons that attend Little
River Elem. in Cherokee County. Alex is in the fourth grade and Drew is in
the second grade. In the last three years we've been blessed with two more
grandchildren, Will who will soon be three years and Ashley who is two years.

P.S. I am the mother of two handsome sons, Eric and Todd (Todd is a teacher at
McEachern High School) and two beautiful high-school daughters, Julia sixteen
years old and Mishel fifteen years old, they both attend Harrison. In addition
to all of this I have two wonderful and gorgeous daughters-in-
law, Lisa & Fran. Standing by my side all these many years and supporting me
in so many ways is one terrific husband named Rod McMath. Rod has a deep love
and concern for children too and two years ago he opened a play & party center
for children called, Jumpits. As you can well see I have been blessed many,
many times!!!! This year I have been blessed by being given the opportunity
to teach your child.
