What time does school start?
Schools starts exactly at 7:50 a.m. Students are expected to be at school
before this time. It is very important that your child be at school and on
time. Academics starts right away and we want to make sure your child does
not miss any important aspects of learning.
--------------------------------------
When can I come to lunch with my child?
The kindergarten team asks that you wait to come to school to eat lunch with
your child until we send home a letter telling you it is ok. It is usually
after Labor Day. This gives the child a chance to get into the routine of
the lunch room and also lets them adjust to the new school environment.
--------------------------------------
When can my child bring in their supplies?
There is a generic supply list already posted on the school's website. I
will be handing out my own personal supply list during meet and greet and
also the supply list is posted on this web site. Students may start
bringing in their supplies during the 1:00 meet and greet and also during
the first week on school. Since their are so many supplies and are often
hard to carry them all at once, students can bring them in gradually during
the first week. I do suggest that the rest mat be brought to school either
during meet and greet or the first day.
--------------------------------------
Can I bring my child to school on the first day?
You can bring your child to school on the first day, but I would highly
recommend that each child get use to riding the bus. Are main concern on
the first day is getting your child home safely. That is why it is
important to maintain a constant transportation schedule. Getting the
child use to riding the bus the first day, will make it much easier then
waiting and then changing their transportation.
--------------------------------------
Can I walk my child to the classroom on the first day?
I recommend that you have the child find the classroom on their own. This is
one of the reasons why I recommend for your child to ride the bus on the
first day. Seperation can be hard when starting at a new school. During
meet and greet, I suggest you practice walking to the classroom from where
the child enters the school. If the child will be riding the bus, then you
should practice walking to the classroom from the cafeteria. If you plan on
your child being a car rider or day care bus rider, then I would suggest
practicing from the frong entrance of the school.

What is GKAP?
GKAP stands for the Georgia Kindergarten Assessment Program. Each student
is required to be assessed throughout the school year on different
kindergarten skills. This assessment is used to assess those skills in
math, language arts, and social skills. You will receive different progress
reports on these skills throughtout the school year.
--------------------------------------
When are parent/teacher conferences?
Parent teacher conferences are held in January.
--------------------------------------
When will I recieve my child's report card?
You will receive a report card every 9 weeks.
--------------------------------------
What if I have a transportation change during the week?
All transportation changes must be in writing. Please make sure you send a
note and put it in the red folder.
--------------------------------------
Can my child bring there lunch on the first day?
I would recommend that each student buy their lunch for the first week of
school. This will help the student get familiar with the lunchroom
procedures. After that, your child may choose to bring or buy lunch on any
given day.
--------------------------------------
What is the purpose of the red folder?
The red folder is used daily for communication between the students,
parents, and teachers. All notes, forms, and students' work will be sent
home in the red folder. Your child is required to bring this folder to
school everyday.
