I grew up down the road a ways in Douglasville, and attended the
University of Georgia for four years. I graduated with honors, earning a
degree in Art education. I then taught for a year in Douglas County before
ending up at wonderful Frey Elementary! Growing up, art was my passion, I
loved to paint, draw, sculpt, and do just about anything creative. Becoming
an art teacher was natural to me, I can't believe I get paid to do something
I find so fun and rewarding!
Your students may have noticed my absence at the beginning of the school
year. Our family has just welcomed our little boy Mason Presley Ruhl! He
was born on July 28th and weighed in at 9 and 1/2 pounds! My plan is to stay
here at Frey for as long as life allows me, We have such a wonderful family
here, I can't imagine working anywhere else!
Things I enjoy doing are: reading, going to the movies, bowling, visiting
museums, cooking, and playing with my Boston Terrier Monty. Being a new mommy
means that I don't have a lot of time for much of those activities, though, so
we mostly stay home and enjoy being a family!!
My mission for art class is to expose my students to a variety of media,
artists, and artistic movements. My job is to create a safe environment
that encourages creative expression and exploration through visual media. We
also investigate and try to interpret art and what it means to us as
individuals (aesthetics and criticism). Most of all, I want my students to
have fun, be creative, and express themselves!
