About The Teacher

Welcome! The 2008-2009 school year is here! I hope your summer was
enjoyable and included some fun family activities. I am looking forward to
working with you and your child during this school year.

A little bit about your teacher… I was born in Dallas, Texas and lived in
Grapevine while growing up with my wonderful parents, 2 brothers and
sister. My husband Mike and I got married in August 1988 and had our son
Michael in September 1992. I taught first grade in Euless, Texas for 4 1/2
years then moved to Dunwoody, Georgia in January 1995. I taught 1 1/2 years
in first grade at Spalding Drive, and then I was the CST (curriculum support
teacher) for 2 1/2 years.

In 2000 we bought a house in Acworth and I taught at Frey for 8 years. In
July 2003 I earned my masters from Kennesaw State University and also had
the great honor of representing Frey as the 2005-2006 Teacher of the Year!

I am so looking forward to being part of "Establishing new traditions and
building a culture of high expectations and excellence" at Pickett's Mill
Elementary.

Mission For The Class

Being a unique, valuable person, each child has the capability and right to
learn and grow into a valued member of society. My role as the educator is
to help develop and guide every child to the realization of his/her maximum
potential academically, physically, and emotionally. By providing a risk
free learning environment, allowing discussion and discovery in cooperative
learning groups, and building on their prior knowledge, not only helps
to cultivate my students critical thinking skills, but also encourages them
to become life long learners.

I am looking forward to an awesome year with your child! :o)
