Last Call for Field Trip Money!  As of Friday, our Pine Mountain Field Trip is in jeopardy of being canceled if we do not receive more permission slips and payments.  Last time I counted, our class was missing 8.  We will not be able to go if we do not receive the funds.  If you are unable to pay, please let me know as soon as possible, so that I may make get a final count.  I will be sending home one final permission slip with an envelope to missing students on Monday.  If you are planning on your child attending, I must have the permission slip and payment not later than Thursday.  Due to the large number of missing payments, we have to have a final count by Thursday in order to make a decision.

On Friday, our class will be completing our end of the First Nine Weeks Benchmark in Math.  This test will be taken in the computer lab on line.  The test will be multiple choice based, however students will be asked to work out problems on provided scratch paper.  I will let you know when to expect results.

If you received paperwork regarding after school tutoring, please complete the information and return it by Monday.  Tutoring begins this Tuesday, October 7.  I cannot tell you how helpful this is for students who need an extra boost in Reading. We are very fortunate to have this program.

On Friday, I sent home your child's current AR report.  As a reminder, this is a school based program where students can work on and monitor their reading comprehension based on on line quizzes that correlate with AR books from our library.  Each student is required to pass 2 AR tests on their level with a score of 80% or higher.  If your child took tests that were not highlighted, that meant that either they did not meet the percentage required, or they were reading books below their level.  Students will receive $1.00 bonus for every test passed over their required 2.  A $10.00 per book fine will be charged for goals not met.

Market Day proposals are due to me by Friday, October 10.  I have already received two proposals to sell food items, so I as I explained to the kids, I will not be able to accept any more.  We limit food items to two students per classroom because the more we have, the less the student's sell (great lesson for our supply and demand standard).  I did tell the kids that I would accept two more if they were beverage related, such as floats or slushies.  If you have any questions about the proposal, please let me know.  I know this is our first one and I spent alot of time explaining the process to the kids, but I am here for you if you need help or suggestions.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
