Announcements

I am looking forward to the school year and working with you and
your child. Third grade can be a hard year in many ways. It is the first
year of pass/fail on the CRCT in the area of reading. It is a transition
year where expectations are increased, more responsibility is expected, and
the work load increases. But each year I am amazed and proud of the progress
that my students make! They can do it!

The CRCT is not a test that you can prepare for at the last
minute. It is a test that we prepare for all year. Everything we do in
class, homework, and our projects help your child to be ready and confident
on the actual test itself.

At Frey we do many things that are very helpful for our students.
We do several MOCK CRCT tests during the year. These help your child to
improve on their standardized testing skills. to become comfortable with
testing conditions and questions, and allow us to monitor progress and
assess weaknesses. We use Unravel strategies for reading and math and have
seen improvements in our students scores with the mastery of these skills.
We use the standards given to us by the state of Georgia and these guide our
daily instruction which prepares students for the content of the CRCT
questions.

I am a teacher who believes that we are a team. I am the head
coach and in charge of the daily activities and call the plays. Your child
is on the starting team and I help to get them ready for the big game. You
are a cheerleader and a support person who cheers me on as the teacher and
your child as they work hard stretching their academic muscles. Together we
can all win the game and be successful in and out of the classroom this
school year.

WELCOME TO THE TEAM AND GO TEAM ARNOLD!
