About The Teacher

Betty Arnold has been married to her husband John for almost 30 years. They
have two sons, Chris and Brian. Chris is married to his high school
sweetheart, Brooke, and they had their first child, our first grandchild two
years ago. His name is Austin Christopher. They all live in Virginia where
Brooke is a pedicatric intensive care nurse and Chris is doing his
residency. He officially became Dr. Arnold this past summer! He is an
Internal Medicine doctor who wants to do a fellowship afterwards in
Infectious Diseases.

Our son Brian is a Cobb County Firefighter and his wife Maggie teaches
Social Studies at Hershel Jones Middle School in Dallas, Georgia. They just
purchased their first home and have been married for one year now.

Mrs. Arnold has experience in kindergarten, second, third and fourth grades
in both private and public education. She also taught adult literacy in
Burkina Faso, West Africa in the Jula language. She and her husband speak
French, Jula, and some Bwamu. They lived and worked in Burkina Faso for 12
years. John still returns to Burkina from time to time on short term
missions trip with his local church.

She and her family lived most of the time in the bush. They had no running
water or electricity for most of their time in Africa. They had many
adventures with snakes, bats, bugs, and scorpions. She approaches learning
with joy and laughter, and uses many songs to learn new concepts. Her class
is known for skip counting and singing multiplication songs!

Mission For The Class

In our class we will celebrate our mistakes as opportunities for increased
learning. Mistakes will always happen and when we take risks we will
sometimes fail. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! The secret is to identify:
What did I do wrong or miss? and What can I do next time to avoid this same
mistake? Our class will be our family and learning community. It will be a
safe place for us all. We want to build self-confidence and self-esteem, to
begin to understand our individual strengths and weaknesses,so that we can
help others and ask for help ourselves. We all have something to offer!
Learning is hard work, it is fun, it is tiring, it is worthwhile! We will
get out of it, what we put into it!

The teacher and the parent need to be team players for the ultimate benefit
of the group. Mrs. Arnold is an involved and concerned teacher who wants to
work closely with parents so that the student will be all that they can.

A journey begins with a single step........ this will be our theme this year
as we journey one step at a time through third grade. This is an exciting
and tough year academically. We will slowly master the concepts assigned to
us by the state of Georgia. Let the journey begin!

Welcome to my class, you can begin thinking now!
