All About Mrs. Rooke

Hello 1st graders and parents! I am Jennifer Rooke, your child's teacher this
year. In 2005 I graduated from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. I
have a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Elementary Education and
two minors (Language Arts and Social Studies).

I was born and raised in a suburb of Detroit, Michigan and moved here to
beautiful, SUNNY Georgia in 2006. My husband and I were married in 2006 in
Maui, Hawaii and moved here two weeks later! We absolutely love Georgia but
of course we miss our friends and family back home. We have an adorable
Dachshund puppy named Penelope. She is quite a handful but we love her dearly.

This will be my third year teaching first grade and I am very excited to be
at Pickett's Mill this year! I can not imagine having any other profession. I
have always had a passion for teaching and am extremely grateful to be able
to share in the experience of opening a new school. As a little girl I would
practice playing school with my friends and stuffed animals so it was no
wonder I decided to become a teacher!

Mission For The Class

I look forward to making this a FANTASTIC year for your child. This year we
will focus on all aspects of the curriculum including reading, writing, math,
problem solving and social skills. We will do many fun projects, hands-on
activities and real world applications.

We will also focus a lot on becoming more independent and responsible. This
will be reinforced through our daily homework, F.R.O.G. Binders and other
various projects through the year.

Also, from the very first day of school I would like to ensure a positive
student/teacher and parent/teacher relationship. An open line of
communication throughout the year is extremely important as well. I am
committed to working hard towards the success of each and every one of my
students.

I am very excited to start the 2008-2009 school year!
