Dear Families,

Welcome!

We are looking forward to a wonderful school year together. There are several important things that I would like you to know about getting our kindergarten year off to a great start.

.

.

.

We believe safety is extremely important.

Book Bags

1. A large bookbag is needed for each student in order fo them to transport notes, important papers, library books, jackets, and a towel for rest time.

2. If at all possible, please select a bookbag without wheels. It has been found that little ones have difficulty maneuvering these types of bookbags.

3. Place an emergancy change of clothes in a large baggy and I will store at school until needed.

Daily Folder

* The daily folder is very important. I will send papers, correspondence, and school information home

in the folder. Hence, you will send any notes, moneys, etc. in the folder for me. I will not have time to

go through every student's bookbag, so please put everything in the folder.

Money

1. All monies are collected separatly from each other. Lunch, ASP, PTSA, etc. are collected in separate envelopes.

2. All monies need to be in an envelope, labeled with your child's first and last name, teacher's name, the place the

money needs to go; such as lunch, ASP, etc.

3. You may pay for lunch on-line. Don't forget about extras. Please determine if and when your child can purchase extra items like ice cream, cookies, etc. There is a form on the school web page explaining lunch prices and a form for extra purchases.

Medicine

1. All medications should be dropped off by the Parent. A Parent signature is required for the clinic to dispense. Please include dosage, time

given and any other information.

2. The clinic is responsible for the form and dispensing of medication.

3. Law requires that the meds be kept in their original container.

Transportation

1. This is VERY important. Please send in a dated and signed note if there are any afternoon transportation

changes. If there is a change in afternoon transportation, fax or call the office as soon as you know. They will

inform me. It is extremely important that you send a note (or contact the office) for any changes, otherwise your

child will be sent home the regular way. Notes work well, however consistency works the best.

2. To pick up your child early, go to the office. They will call for your child. This helps limit interruptions in our

intructional day.

3. Make sure that you print, fill out and return the student information on the first day of school. Thanks.

ASP

Registering for the After School Program, ASP is a great way to feel secure if there is ever an emergency.

Registration fee for ASP is $10.00. The daily rate is $7.00. Only registered students may stay in ASP.

Snacks

1. Each day your child may bring in their own snack. Snack will not be provided for students. Snacks should

not be shared with others. This helps with allergies, likes and dislikes of snacks, etc.

2. Water bottles need to be labeled with your child's name as to avoid confusion.

3. Any food allergies need to be reported on the Classroom Information Form(on Sneak-a-Peek form.)

4. Treats are always welcome. Birthday treats will be passed out during lunch.

School Hours

7:50-2:24

The PTSA on-line newsletter will inform you about Early Release hours (2 hours early.)

Also the newsletters let you know many upcoming events. We have such a wonderful PTSA!

Rest Time

Please send in a towel for rest time and I'll store them at school. When they are sent home, please wash and return.

Discipline Reports

Reports will be sent home daily.

Volunteers

Volunteers are welcome! You help make a difference in your child's view of the importance of learning.

Please let me know when you can help out. I'd like to plan a consistent day and time for you to help with making a center game, making copies, reading individually with students, cutting items at home, etc.

Volunteers are extremely appreciated!

Thanks to all of the parents that have volunteered to help make our year successful. If you have not been contacted yet, you will be very soon.

I'm scheduling a meeting with our class Room Mom sometime this week. I realize that it is only the second week of school, however we are going to plan tentative dates/activities for the school year. We are open to suggestions and assistance with this task. Just send me the information for now.

As soon as the class directory is compiled, you may contact the Room Mom directly. Thanks for being involved in your chld's education.
