ITBS Test Results coming home today

We received the ITBS test results and below is a link to the brochure which helps in understanding the score report.

The results are very informative, but can often be difficult to interpret. When I go through the scores, I look at GE which is Grade Equivalent. The number is read as years and months in school. For example, a 4.3 would mean 4th grade 3rd month level, a 2.3 would be 2nd grade 3rd month level in that area, and so on. The exciting part is this test breaks down their strengths and weaknesses into categories.

The other area that is helpful is the NS which is the National Stanine rating. It is rated on a 1-9 system. 1-3 are the lower scores, 4-6 are the middle average scores, and 7-9 are the higher scores. Your child is rated according to the national scores of other students, rather than their grade level performance.

We are fortunate because we have an abundance of resources available to our students such as Study Island, First in Math, and the CRCT test prep site. The homework packet is also a great way for your child to improve  grammar, math, and reading skills.
