UNRAAVEL

Below is the mnemonic we use for UNRAAVEL and what each letter means.  The top one is for reading comprehension, and the bottom on is for math problem solving.  Under each mnemonic, I will be adding some songs to remember the steps.  Thanks to Larry Bell for creating and bringing us these wonderful strategies!

Reading UNRAAVEL

U - underline the title

N - Now, predict the passage

R - Run through and number the paragraphs

A - Are you reading the questions?

A - Are the important words circled?

(in the questions)

V- Venture through the passage

(read it marking the important words)

E - Eliminate wrong answers

(only in mulitple choice)

L - Let the questions be answered

(answer each question and put the paragraph number where the answer was found)

UNRAAVEL SONG

(to the tune of the Brady Bunch)

Draw as line, under the title

Take your best guess what it's all about

Put a number next to each paragraph

To help you find the answer

Take some time, and read the questions

Circle all, the very important words

Write down what each word means

And now its time to read

(Chorus)

UNRAAVEL -ing

UNRAAVEL - ing

This how we UNRAAVEL the CRCT!

Cross out all the wrong answers

Pick the best of all that remain

Paragraph numbers will prove you know the answers

Now double check your work

Chorus
