I am so excited to begin another year at Frey! This is my sixth year
teaching, and my fourth in Third grade.
I was born in Illinois, but was raised right here in Cobb County. I
attended Big Shanty Elementary, JJ Daniel Middle, and North Cobb High
School. I come from a family of teachers, but credit a lot of my desire to
become a teacher to my fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Gladden (who is still
teaching and I occassionally see at trainings!). She was such a nuturing,
caring teacher and made a huge impact on my life. I graduated from Kennesaw
State University in 2002 with a BS in Early Childhood Education. My
husband, Matthew, and I were married 2 months after my graduation (he
proposed to me at the Beauty and the Beast stage show at MGM in front of
3,000 people!). We have a daughter, Kelsey, who will be 3 in December. She
has been such a blessing to our lives, and she amazes me daily with what she
knows! We also have 2 cats, Belle and Jasmine, which Kelsey could not live
without!
I am very close with my family and lucky that we all live in the area. In
fact, my mom is the PE parapro here at Frey (Mrs. Asby). She and my dad
have been married for 37 years. My older sister, Stacy, is my best friend.
We have a standing dinner date on Wednesday nights so we can watch Lost on
tv. My younger sister, Suzanne, is an amazing mom to my nephew, Nathan, and
my niece, Eva. Kelsey and Nathan are two months apart and are inseparable!
Luckily they live 2 minutes from us, so we can see them whenever we want.
My baby brother, Ben, spent a year serving in Afghanistan (I guess he's not
really a baby anymore!) with the Marine Corps. He is now on reserve status
and lives about 15 minutes away. I am so proud of him!
I come from a family of teachers and could not imagine doing anything else.
Children are my passion and I love helping them learn and grow. This is
sure to be an exciting year!
* I love anything chocolate (although M&Ms are my absolute favorite)
* I can't live without coffee and Dr. Pepper
* My favorite tv shows are Lost, Grey's Anatomy, Scrubs, and My Name is Earl
* I don't like to cook, but have been better about doing it more often
* I would read all day long if I had the time, which sometimes drives my
husband crazy!
* I was in the colorguard in high school
* I live so close to North Cobb High School that I can hear the football
games on Friday nights
* I have played piano since elementary school (although I'm a bit out of
practice)
* I love to eat at the Melting Pot - their chocolate fondue is yummy!
* I love romantic comedy movies
* Target is my favorite store
* By the end of the school year I will be shorter than some of the students
in our class
