Conclusion

Dear Students,

Thank you so much for helping me answer these questions that I had.  I now know that white light is a mixture of all colors.  When I saw a band of rainbow colors reflecting from the prism it was simply that the colors were being spread out by refracting each one at a different angle.  I have learned that the color of an object depends on the color of the light hitting it.  Thank you for helping me figure out that all the colors of the spectrum can be created by mixing proper amounts of green, red, and blue.  I will call this the primary colors of light.  You know, I thought it was interesting how you said that when light strikes an object, pigments in the object reflect some colors but absorb other colors.  It is so neat how colors can be mixed together to form black, but light can be mixed together to form white.  Thank you so much for researching these questions that I had.  We make a great team!  Maybe one day you will decide to be a scientist like me!

Sincerly,

Sir Isaac Newton
