Teaching has always been my dream. I remember, as a child, lining up my stuffed animals and
cabbage patch kids in my bedroom classroom. Once they were all in their assigned seats, I would
teach them out of old workbooks from previous years. It was amazing how well they understood
what I was delivering when they imaginatively raised their hands to participate!
Then, it seemed as though the reality was so out of reach, but I taught and taught. However, in May
of 2002, I received a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Augusta State University.
It was then that my dream was in the palms of my hands, and I was ready to see the "real" children
before me.
I began my teaching career at South Columbia Elementary School where I taught for four years in the
fourth grade. In 2006 I transfered to Greenbrier Elementary and taught one year in the fifth grade.
After that year, I moved down to fourth grade, where my heart was. It is now my eighth year
teaching and still in the fourth grade.
In December of 2006, I received a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Three months
later, in March, my certification for Reading Endorsement was complete.
Other than my passion for teaching, I have a greater calling as a wife to a wonderful husband and a
mother to two very precious children. My family, and my time spent with them, is very important to
me. I am so lucky to be a part of such an amazing family! We have truly been blessed and thank God
everyday for it.
My goal for this year is to deliver instruction that will motivate, and engage each child in many ways, to
discover the potential of their strengths. I will provide multiple opportunities for your child to perform
at their own level, while still being held accountable for their performance. Furthermore, delivery of
instruction will be through a variety of hands on inquiry activities, providing your child with a higher
understanding of the curricular standards taught. I will treat your child with respect and provide an
enjoyable, safe, and comfortable, learning environment that they will value and feel a part of. Finally, I
want to help your child find their love for learning, no matter what their abilities are.
