About The Teacher

This is my 5th year teaching 6th grade math at Greenbrier Middle School. I
moved from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina which is across the
bridge from Charleston. I have one child, Rutledge who is 9 years old. He
is in the 3rd grade at Greenbrier Elementary School. Rutledge and I share
the same birthday, November 30. What a birthday present!! I have 2 cats
Sebastian and Scooby(Rutledge came up with the name). We have added a
Cocker Spaniel whose name is Fats Domino b/c he is black and white like a
domino. Rutledge also has a hamster, Mac. We now have a small petting ZOO!!

I graduated from the College of Charleston in 1993 with a BS degree in
education and I completed my Maters Degree in education in 1997 from the
University of Charleston which is the graduate school at the College of
Charleston. I am currently pursuing my EdS degree in Leadership
I will complete my degree July 5 2008.. I taught in Charleston
County for 9 years before moving to Columbia County. I spent my first year
teaching 2nd grade and happily moved to middle school where I taught 6th,
7th, and 8th grade math, science, Language Arts, and Social Studies at
various times. Three of my years in Charleston were spent teaching at the
Charleston County Discipline School. This will be my 5th year at GMS
teaching 6th grade math.

I love to travel anywhere that has a beach. My favorite place in the United
States is Fripp Island which is outside of Beaufort, SC. Negril, Jamaica
is my favorite place outside the states.

Mission For The Class

In my class I would like for students to be able to work together to solve
problems. I want students to embrace math and realize that it is only as
hard as they make it. I encourage and expect all students to participate in
daily activies and class discussions.
