My name is Jason Powell. I am a graduate of Augusta State
University, and this is my fifth year teaching. My beautiful wife Jennifer
is a Kindergarten teacher at South Columbia Elementary School. Our first
child, Jacob, celebrated his first birthday in April. We also have a 4 year
old beagle named Parker.
I am a big Atlanta Falcons fan. We had a pretty rough season last year,
but Matt Ryan sure looks promising! :)
I also admit to being a pretty nerdy guy. I love Star Wars movies and
Harry Potter books.
I love being here at GMS, and I am sure that we are going to have a
great year!
We will have two goals in our class this year:
The first goal will be to work to get every student up to grade level.
We will be doing lots of preparation for the CRCT. Our school is heavily
focusing on the new teaching concept of differentiation, which means we're
going to be trying our best to tailor individual instruction for each
student.
The second goal will be to prepare all students to move on to the 7th
grade. This year we will be placing even more responsibility on the student
for his or her own educational progress.
I know if we all work hard and do our best, we can achive these goals
and more in the coming year.
