Expectations

1) Come to class prepared.  Have book, Interactive Notebook, and supplies 
each day. Do not ask to go back to your locker.
2) Once you enter the classroom, take your seat and begin the Social Studies 
Starter.
3) Ask for help if you do not understand.
4) Put forth your best effor and you will enjoy learning about our world.

Work Standards

1) All work should have a complete heading at the top of the paper. An 
example sheet is available in the classroom. I do accept papers that do not 
have a name. I will not take the time to determine whose paper it is and a 
zero will be given.  Points will be deducted without a complete heading.
2) Work should be neatly completed, legible, and organized.
3) All work is due on time. I do not accept late work, except if you have 
been absent.
4) If you are caught copying homework or working on an assignment in another 
teacher's class (without the teacher's permission), the assignment will be 
taken and you will receive a zero.  If another student is caught with your 
paper, and you have knowledge of this, you will receive a zero.

Procedures

1) My website with assignments will be updated every Monday afternoon.
2) An assignment board in the room will be updated every Monday afternoon.
3) Make-up worksheets will be available in the make-up bin.

Books

Books should be covered with a book sox or paper book cover. Bring your book 
to class every day.

Absences and Make-Up Work

1) Make-up work should be turned in within 3 days of returning to school. 
Please review Handbook for additional information. Additional time will be 
given if you have been absent for more than 3 days in a row. 
2) If you are in class on the day a test, quiz, assignment, or project is 
announced, you must be prepared to turn in the work on the due date. If you 
are absent on the due date, the assignment or project is due the day you 
return. If you are absent on a test or quiz date, you must take it the day 
you return.
3) It is the responsibility of the student to check the assignment board or 
website for missed assignments.
4) I am available from 2:45 to 3:00 for any help or questions concerning 
make-up work and to take quizzes or tests.  Also the student may ask for a 
hall pass to come in the next day at 7:00 am to take any quizzes or tests.

The Interactive Notebook

The purpose of the Interactive Notebook is to enable the student to be 
creative, and become an independent thinker and writer. The notebook will be 
used for classnotes as well as for other activities.  The student will be 
able to express his/her own ideas and process information presented in 
class. More information will be sent home with the student at the beginning 
of the school year.
