Thanks for visiting my web-page. I would like to tell you a little
about myself. I am a graduate of Augusta State University, where I received
a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Grades Education. My concentration
areas are Language Arts and Social Studies. I recently earned a Master of
Education degree from Augusta State University this summer. I am starting
my Specialist degree at ASU this fall!!
I have two children, LaDerrick,12, and LaShawn,6. They both attend Columbia
County schools. LaDerrick is a seventh grader at Greenbrier Middle, and
LaShawn is in first grade at Greenbrier Elementary.
This is my fourth year teaching. I completed my apprenticeship at
Greenbrier Middle School and I have been a member of the Wolfpack family my
entire teaching career. I love teaching and I am very excited about
this school year! I look forward to teaching your child and having a fun
and exciting year!!
In Writing this year, we will focus on the four genres of writing which are:
narrative, expository, persuasive, and descriptive. In the process of
producing writing, you will examine the writing process, the traits of
excellent writing, the use of research to support writing, and the
appropriate application of the conventions of English. You will also
experience self and peer-editing as a means of improving writing, grammar,
and communication skills in all disciplines.
This course will also focus on improving grammar and mechanincs as well as
increasing and building vocabulary; which are essential elements of reading
and writing. We will experience writing poetry, short stories,
advertisement, biographies, autobiographies, and research papers.
Throughout the year, we will participate in many different types of
activities that will enhance our learning experiences.
