Each day your child is in class he or she earns 50 participation points. If
your child is absent for any reason except a school related function he or

How can I help my child study for your class.

Since all classwork is done in the classroom the best way to help your child
is to ask them how they are progressing through the module. Feel free to
contact me if there are any concerns or problems.
There may be up to three out of class assignments that will be assigned
during the nine weeks.

Can my child do extra-credit work to help bring up his or her grade?

I do assign a variety of extra-credit work for students during the course of
the nine weeks. Extra-credit work must be done in-class at the time that it
was assigned. If your child is absent on a day where extra-credit was
assigned, then he or she will have an opportunity to make that assignment up
when they make up his or her abscence. To view a list of the extra-credit
assignments that have already been assigned click on the homework link at
the
top of the page. The list will be at the bottom of the "homework" page.

What exactly is a "Work Ethic" grade?

One of the focuses of the career oriented exploratory courses is to respond
to the statement that our students have the skills to enter the workforce --
but lack the skills or "work ethic" to keep a job. The Work Ethic grade
reflects the student's ability to be on time, be prepared, and stay on task
as they complete their modules. Students simply have to write in the 50
points on their student calenders to earn the daily grade. The students can
lose points if they are unprepared, tardy, violate class rules or become off
task.
