Dear Parents/Guardians,
Our 8th grade math classes have been given a great opportunity, to utilize the web site
StudyIsland.com. This web site is an excellent tool to help students develop the skills they
will need to be successful both in class and on this spring’s CRCT test.
StudyIsland.com is an excellent site that motivates and engages students by turning their math
work into fun and entertaining games. Top scores are posted so that students can see how they
match up against their classmates, other students in the school, students across Columbia
County, and even students around the country.
Students will be given a weekly assignment each Monday and will have an entire week to
complete the assignment before it is graded. Assignments will count as homework grades.
Each student has been assigned login information that they will be expected to keep up with or
remember in order to access the site. To log into the site use the formula
firstname.lastname@gms (no .com at the end) for the user name of the student. The password is
the student’s lunch/library ID number and can be obtained from their math teacher if the student
does not know it.
Please fill out the portion of the form below and have your student return it. If you do not
have a reliable internet connection available at home, we will make the assignments available to
the student in print form. However, the student will not be able to play the games on the web
site or post their scores to compare to other students. Please contact me with any questions or
concerns that you may have.
