Thanks to those parents and students who have taken the time to look for textbooks. I did get 3 back! To those who have complained about this request, your child's education is NOT being compromised due to the missing textbooks.
Missing Textbooks! Please look around your house and through your bedroom for the missing books! I can not conduct class properly until these are returned!

TEXT BOOK
We have new textbooks this year. Text books are not assigned to each student; however, if there is a need to borrow a book, students may check one out from me at any time. Also, I do have CD's of the textbook which may also be checked out.
The text book is also available on line at www.mystatehistory.com. The student password is gamsh17.
HOMEWORK
I do not assign much homework in GA Studies. However, when I do assign homework, I expect students to complete it. A late grade of -10 points for each day the assignment is late will be given. Excuses are not appreciated. Most work is completed in class, and will be sent home for completion if needed.
HONESTY
Cheating and plagerism have been a troubling problem in the past. Please know that cheating will not be tolerated in my classroom. Students will receive a zero for cheating or plagerising. Cheating prevents a student from learning the material and is nothing more than a "quick fix" for not having studied or completed class/homework.
INDEPENDANT LEARNERS
Heritage High School teachers have expressed to us (8th grade teachers) that the BEST way for us to prepare students for the high school is to teach them to be independant learners. Independant learners take responsibility for their education. They make an effort to complete all assignments, study for tests, are present in class, prepared, and participate in class discussion.
As your child's teacher, I promise I will provide him/her the education necessary to be successful in GA Studies. However, your child MUST do his/her part in class to be successful.
he password is gamsh17.
In class, we do not solely rely on the text book. In addition to the text, students use a CRCT practice workbook, which many of them prefere to the textbook. I also provide them with Power Point notes and class lecture and discussion. You can access the Power Point notes in the "Notes" list on the left.
TESTS and QUIZZES
Students need to take tests and quizzes seriously. I do not rely on tests and quizzes as a total indication of what students have learned and know, but they are an important part of the grade.
Students are afforded the opportunity to retake one failed (69 or below) test each nine weeks. The process I use for retakes is the easiest for both students and myself. I assign a retake test date for each test. Students are told several days before the date (so they may study, hopefully) and it is also posted on the board. On the assigned date, students report to either before or after-school detention to retake the test. **Please note that the retake is NOT the same test which was originally given.
Students are NOT able to retake quizzes.
