Syllabus

 Parents and Students,
Our math class will work on the following concepts this year: decimals,
fractions, statistics, graphs, ratios, proportions, percents, area, volume,
geometry, and an introduction to integers and algebraic concepts. Successful
completion of these skills requires that fundamental math skills have been
mastered. To do this, we will work and review in class, practice at home,
incorporate performance tasks, and show understanding through quizzes and tests.

Re-take Opportunity
Students are allowed only one test retake per class per nine weeks. This
means a student could make up a test in four different classes a nine weeks.
However, they could not make up two in the same class in a nine week grading
period. Students will not be allowed to carry over their make up if they did
not use it in the previous nine weeks. Retakes can only be taken during
morning detention time, after school detention or during lunch. If
transportation is an issue, the administration will make arrangements to
transport the student home. The student will receive the higher of the two
grades once the retake has been graded. The student is only allowed to retake
the test one time.

Make-up Work
The teacher website will be available for students who have been absent
(www.heritagegenerals.com, click on the teacher website link and find my
name). All work is also posted on the board daily. The work is expected to
be made up according to county policy. For example, if a student is absent
for 2 days, then he/she is allowed 2 days to make up the work. When
assignments are given, the student is told when they will be due. If the
assignment is not turned in when due, the student may turn his/her work in
late for reduced credit (see agenda for school policy).

Requirements
1.Loose leaf paper and graph paper

Grading Policy
Grades will be determined by averaging classwork, homework, weekly quizzes,
unit tests and performance tasks. Your child will have math homework daily

will usually be on Monday to assess everything from the previous week.
*** Note: Students are required to show all work to receive credit for
answers on every assignment.***
