Peer Helpers are either 4th or 5th grade students that have been chosen to represent Johnson Elementary School. They are "the best of the best"! This status is not necessarily due to having high grades although this does help. Students are recommended to Mr. Foreman by their teachers based on high moral character, positive social interactions and skills, good to excellent grades, and strong determination reflected in excellent work ethics. Finally, Mr. Foreman and the 5th grade Peer Helpers from the previous school year interview and vote for the students that best qualified. I try to maintain a balanced ratio of five 4th graders and five 5th graders. Letters are sent to parents explaining how they help tutor younger students during "free time", how they get to go to an annual meeting at the Columbus Trade Center, when we have meetings at Johnson, and how they help me by identifying students that need to talk to me about a problem.
