Weekly Write Up
Dear Parents,
I know this is a fun and busy time of year, but we are still focused on our standards and have several important assessments coming up. It will help your child stay focused at school if they keep their regular evening routine and bedtime. It is so important that your child is here on time each day. This allows them to be prepared for each day, turn in work and ask any questions.
☺
New!!! This is an awesome resource for finding books on your child's level. I will be sending home your child's lexile number this week in their Thursday folders. They just finished the winter SRI test.
Search for Books by Lexile at Barnes & Noble. Barnes & Noble, the world’s largest bookseller, now offers its customers the ability to search for books by Lexile measure—in stores and online at Barnes & Noble.com. (Lexiles are another way that books are leveled. To find out more about Lexiles and levels go to the “Links” page on our website and under the Reading heading select Book Leveling - This is a website that provides information on book levels/Lexiles/AR.)
When shopping in stores, there are two ways to find books at your Lexile level: you can ask a sales associate at the service desk to look up titles by their Lexile measure; or, in stores that have customer kiosks, you can visit Barnes & Noble.com and conduct your own search for books at your Lexile level. When shopping online, Barnes & Noble.com offers a Lexile Reading Level wizard that allows you to build a custom book list based on your Lexile measure and interests. The Lexile wizard is available on the “B&N Kids” page, in the box called “Easy Search Tools for Children’s Books” (see below). To launch the Lexile wizard, click on the “Find Children’s Book” button.
