R.I.S.E. stands for "Reading is Succeeding Everyday." It was instituted as a
program between Lewis Elementary and Kennesaw Mountain High School in 2001.
In this program, students from Kennesaw Mountain High School come to Lewis
for one hour each day to tutor selected students. Each high school student
works in one or two classrooms during this hour. They are there to help
individual students and are trained in guided reading techniques. However,
they may also help with math skills. We are seeing tremendous gains
in our students' reading abilities and levels of interest in reading from
this program. A big thank you goes out to KMHS and the business community for
supporting and sponsoring this program. If you have any questions about the
R.I.S.E. program, please email Mary Cain at mary.cain@cobbk12.org.
