BELIEFS
It is the belief of the Lewis Elementary Counseling Department that every
student can be successful when supported appropriately. We believe that our
counseling program has unique abilities to remove barriers to this success
and to facilitate each student’s optimal performance.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Lewis Elementary School Counseling Program is to assist
students in overcoming barriers to learning and to provide a safe and
nurturing environment that promotes academic, emotional, and social growth.
In partnership with other educators, parents and guardians, and community
resources, the Lewis counselors facilitate the support system necessary to
ensure that all students are empowered with the skills and knowledge they
will need to achieve success throughout their educational and personal lives.
PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT
We believe that all Lewis students, no matter their backgrounds or abilities,
deserve the opportunity to be successful. In today’s ever-changing society,
students are faced with increasing difficulties and demands in their
personal, social, and academic lives, and such opportunities are not always
granted to them. As Lewis School Counselors, we hold sacred roles in serving
as advocates and voices for all students, with the precious responsibility
of ensuring that their abilities are recognized and that opportunities to
reach their fullest potential remain within their reach. When provided the
opportunity to feel successful, it is our belief that students become
encouraged and motivated to strive for that same success in all aspects of
their lives.
