Kindergarten

The Cobb County Kindergarten program is concerned with establishing a classroom atmosphere to provide a means by which each child develops:

  • self-confidence and self-worth through secure relationships, and independence through successful learning experiences
  • responsibility for one's own behavior
  • positive feelings toward learning
  • responsibility for completing assigned tasks
  • good habits in care of self and materials
  • ability to share, to cooperate and to live democratically with others
  • appreciation of family, neighborhood and country
  • language through sensory experiences, conversation and listening
  • readiness for formal reading and math
  • ability to observe, experiment, discover, think and generalize through concrete learning experiences
  • awareness of health and safety habits
  • physical development through use of large and small muscles
  • potential in all areas of learning
  • opportunity for aesthetic appreciation

The Cobb County kindergarten curriculum is specifically designed for the five-year-old.  The curriculum is flexible and covers these major areas:
