Signed Papers, Materials, Absences, Make-Up Work, Discipline Plan

SIGNED PAPERS: Signed papers will be sent home every Monday in a MCES school
folder. Please review and discuss the papers with your child. Then, please
sign and return the papers in the MCES folder to school by Wednesday.

MATERIALS: Students will be expected to have textbooks, notebook paper,
folders, and pencils at all times for use in the classroom.

ABSENCES: Parents should send a written note explaining their child’s
absence. Note: School boards are allowed to require appropriate
documentation in order to determine if an absence is an excused absence.
In addition, to qualify an absence as excused the student must submit a
written notice within five (5) school days upon returning to school
which contains the date(s) of absence(s) and reason(s) for being absent, and
must be signed by a parent or legal guardian, documenting the valid
reason(s) for the absence. The note must list the specific date(s) of absence
(s). Students who are regularly tardy will be counseled and their parents
contacted.

MAKE UP WORK: Students are expected to make up all work missed due to any
absence. Students have three school days to complete make-up work. Make-up
work is defined as work assigned on a day the student is absent, and is not
to be confused with previously assigned work.

DISCIPLINE PLAN: School wide expectations -
       1. Listen and follow directions.
       2. Have a cooperative attitude.
       3. Demonstrate respect towards all people and property.

Consequences:
If you choose to break a rule (Class 1 offense)…
1st time - verbal warning
2nd time – turn yellow star to blue star
3rd time – Blue star is removed from discipline chart resulting in a loss of
recess.
4th time - The student will have a personal conference with me and any other
person who needs to be involved such as the principal and parent.

*Depending on the severity of the disruption or infraction, any step may be
skipped or may be dealt with by the teacher specific to the situation. A
record will be kept of the behaviors.

**Class 2-3 offenses will be referred to the office immediately! (A
