Mr. Logan -
I am entering my seventh year of teaching at Monarch School in the ADAPT
program. I transition young adults with autism, ID, and OI into their adult
lives.
I graduated college with a Bachelors of Fine Art in Graphic Design, received
certification in Interrelated Education, and continuing my education to
receive my Masters in Special Education.
I have a beautiful wife, Amy, a lovely daughter, Mazzy, and my handsome son,
Slade. My family always keeps a smile on my face and I love being with them.
I enjoy art and expressing my creativity through drawing, painting, and other
mediums. Being from Florida, I enjoy everything to do with water and the
outdoors. I relax by strumming a guitar, gardening, spending time with my
family, and playing with our two dogs, Kobe and Parker.
PARAPROFESSIONAL:
Pat Swords -
This will be my sixth year working in ADAPT. I enjoy both teaching and
learning from the students. My background is in employment training with
developmentally disabled adults. I also enjoy the domestic skills training
and the recreation and leisure activities which are a part of ADAPT. I have
one child, a son who attends Georgia Tech.
The mission of special education, in A.D.A.P.T., is to facilitate appropriate
education for students with diverse learning needs and abilities; this is
accomplished by collaboration with other staff and community to provide a
continuum of services delivered in the least restrictive environment in
partnership with families.
We believe that all students can learn, and strongly believe learning must be
meaningful to the student.
Special education is not a place, but a designated array of supports and
services, in which all educators share the responsibility for the education
of all learners. Students will have equal opportunities to participate in
educational programs and school activities which are appropriate for their
education. The student’s education will provide appropriate instruction,
resources, and support to meet their diverse learning needs.
Lastly, we believe respect and dignity are essential in the learning process,
as well as, believing collaboration and communication are vital to the
educational partnership among students, parents and educators.
