Hi everyone,
Hope all of you had a wonderful Spring Break! I wanted to update you on
some upcoming events as well as what we are learning now in the classroom:
Language Arts- We are working on ABC order of words for introduction before
going to first grade. We are also discussing compound words. The children are
doing a wonderful job. We are so proud of them! We continue to make "star
sentences" (beginning with uppercase letter, spacing between words, ending
punctuation, complete thought) and writing 3 or more sentences. Please have
your child work on this at home if time permits.We are also reinforcing vowel
sounds, blends, and digraphs during this time.
Please continue to work on sight word lists at home and reinforce lists 1-4
as they need to know them well going to first grade.
Math- We are discussing more than, less than (how many more than?) and
addition skills during this time. We work on daily problems to solve as a
class. The children are doing well with addition skills. We continue to work
on "how many more than?" etc.
Science- We are discussing plants, Earth Day, and "oviparous" animals and
mammals as well. We are discussing what makes them oviparous and what makes
them a mammal. Please ask your child if they can tell you all about these
types of animals.
Social Studies- We continue to reinforce map and globe skills. We are
discussing cardinal directions as well as symbols and locating things on a
map and globe. We are discussing land and water on a map.
Upcoming Events:
- Library Days for April are on Tuesdays.
- Spring Fling is Friday, April 27th.
- May 11th is our fieldtrip to Legoland.
- Last Day of School is Thursday, May 24th. Please note that Wednesday, May
23rd and Thursday May 24th are Early Release Days.
-May 9th is K-2 Field Day. (more info. to come)
- K Performance in the cafeteria on Friday May 4th at 8:30.
