Parents - This year, we have a student in our classroom with severe nut allergies. We are
requesting that each family assist us in providing a "NUT FREE ZONE" within our 5th grade
classrooms. Not just peanuts but all nuts. We have been made aware of the tremendous risk children
who are allergic to nuts can face from even the smallest taste of peanut butter or a piece of nut.
The consequences are life threatening in many cases and require immediate intervention with
medication, hospitalization or even life support. We want to do all we can to eliminate the
possibility of such an occurrence in our classroom. We need your help to do this!

We are asking you to assist us in implementing the following guidelines to provide a NUT FREE ZONE
in our classrooms:

1. Please do not allow your child to bring any food items into the classroom or store them in
their backpacks for after school consumption.
2. Consume all foods before entering the building.
3. Students who pack their lunches are asked to honor the "no nut policy" as well.
4. We ask that no foods containing nuts or nut products be brought into the classroom under any
circumstances.

Your understanding and support in helping us to provide a "NUT FREE ZONE" within our classrooms is
greatly appreciated.
