About Your Teacher

I am a Northerner by birth, but a Southerner by choice! I was
born and raised in Beaver Falls, PA, which is about 60 miles north of
Pittsburgh. I began my education at Edinboro State College in Erie, PA with a
double major in Art and Music. I continued my education at Kennesaw State
College, as it was called then, where I received my Bachelor of Science Degree
in Early Childhood Education. This past May, I graduated from KSU with a
Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. I am currently "considering"
furthering my education by pursuing my Specialist's Degree.

My first teaching experience in GA was at Powers Ferry Elementary, where I
taught second grade for two years and third grade for three years. In 2000, I
transferred to Mountain View Elementary, where I taught fourth grade for two
years, and am now in my eighth year in fifth grade.

I have two children. Andrew is 27, a graduate of Savannah College of
Art and Design, and is the Lead Graphic Designer for Designs by Lolita. You
may have seen his glassware in Macy's and various other gift
stores. Christopher, 25, is in the U.S. Coast Guard and is stationed on the
CG Cutter Boutwell. This past July, his ship returned from a six month tour
circumnavigating the globe and fighting Somalian pirates! I had the pleasure
of greeting him upon his return at Coast Guard Island in Alameda, CA. Very
exciting! He recently returned from a tour of duty in Alaska and the Bering
Sea, where his ship was responsible for protecting the King Crab fishermen
featured on The Deadliest Catch!

In my spare time I love to read! Mysteries, mixed with a little comedy, are
my favorites. Some of my favorite authors are Janet Evanovich, Jodi
Piccoult, Nicolas Sparks, Harlan Coben, Patricia Cornwell, and Carl Hiaason.
On warm, sunny weekends, I enjoy kayaking the rapids of Georgia's beautiful
rivers and antique shopping in small "never heard of" towns. My newest
adventure is hiking and biking with a local group of outdoor lovers.
