Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to December! We're almost at the end of the second nine weeks, 
and halfway through the school year! I'm sure you've heard that Baby Joey 
arrived adorable and healthy! Both he and Ms. Reardon are doing well.

We are beginning our Matter unit in science, and have many fun 
experiments and activities planned. The students will have an acceleration 
project for this unit to complete. (Don't worry, they will be due after 
winter break!) In math, we are moving on to dividing fractions, both the 
traditional way and through modeling. Please review previous concepts, like 
adding, subtracting, and multiplying fractions with your child. In Reading 
and Language Arts, we are discussing story elements (characters, plot, 
setting, etc. We are finishing up our Civil War novels (either Civil War on 
Sunday or Charley Skadaddle) in our reading groups. The students recently 
wrote some great fantasy narratives.

In addition, we would like to thank all of you who have made a donation 
to the Mountain View Foundation. These contributions go directly to staffing 
our computer lab with a full time instructor who is capable of teaching your 
children the skills they need to be proficient in technology use.
