Week of November 30- December 4 

 

3 year-olds-  Patterned Christmas stockings - students will review the concept of pattern  and continue perfecting their cutting and pasting skills while creating an adorable decoration for the Christmas season.
  

PreK  - Tree reflections - Week 2 - Students will create a landscape using relection and color mixing.  Students will discuss what a reflection is and where we see them. Examples of water, mirrors, and glass will be discussed.  Some artists use reflection to show that there is water in the picture.  Materials will include paints, paper, and oil pastels.  
 
 
 
Young 5s - Winter Wonderland scene - Students will look at and discuss some examples of winter paintings by famous artists.  They will spend some time identifying and describing what they see.  Students will use a variety of materials to draw, paint, cut and paste their own interpretation of a winter landscape.  Students will have the opportunity to select materials that will work best for their image. I can't wait to see what they make. 



Kindergarten - Swedish cookie stamps  - Students will learn about traditional Swedish cookie stamps made out of clay and wood.  They will make their own version by rolling a wedge of clay into a ball and then flattening it into  a 1/2 " disk shape.  They will use a variety of clay tools to choose how best to draw a design in the clay disk.  The handle will be created by rolling another piece of clay into a 2" coil and attaching to the disk.  After firing in the kiln, the handle and top of the cookie stamp can be glazed.
